Hello!
My name is Becky and I am the creator of Fly Colour Calm.
Thank you so much for finding me and my book. If you’re a nervous flyer, please know you’re not alone. We’re part of a kind and supportive community, and you’re more than welcome here.
So a little bit about me and how Fly Colour Calm came to be...

I wasn’t always a nervous flyer, but during a particularly difficult chapter in my life, anxiety and panic started showing up in unexpected ways — especially when I travelled by air. Art has always brought me comfort and peace, so I started painting more. Then, having always enjoyed mindful colouring myself, I turned to my pencils and began sketching travel destinations. It became a calming, therapeutic routine, and before long, I’d built up a growing collection of illustrations. That’s when the idea for Fly Colour Calm began to take shape.

For some, flight anxiety has been a lifelong companion. I joined the club more recently and know travelling with a suitcase full of nerves isn’t exactly a breeze! For me, distraction is key — not dwelling on ‘what ifs’, but having a plan to keep my focus positive.
After lots of research and conversations with fellow nervous flyers, the Flight Log evolved to include helpful prompts — from tracking your emotions, to listing what you’re looking forward to, to reflecting on successes and next steps. It’s there to help guide busy minds toward a more settled, intentional head space. During one test flight, I was so distracted by completing my Flight Log and colouring, I wanted to continue flying so I could finish the section I was on!

Outside of Fly Colour Calm, I spend four days a week in school helping to teach brilliant little minds. I also love gardening — it’s my other go-to for mindfulness (especially with my two cheeky rescue cats weaving through the flowerbeds and veggie patches). I’ve been wild swimming for a few years now and find such serenity in being out in nature. And of course... there’s travel! It takes a little more courage than it used to, but I’m still determined to explore new places and soak up the wonder this world has to offer.

My journey as a nervous flyer has brought me into a kind, supportive community of people who understand each other's nerves and enjoy sharing their stories of progress.
And now, what started as a form of personal escapism has grown into something more: the creation of Fly Colour Calm, a tool to help others find calm in the clouds.
